The Charles Clemes Graphite Fly Rods, are made in England and produced by Charles Clemes who are the fly fishing division of London gunsmiths Anderson Wheeler.
It took them four years of research and talking with professional guides and experienced English tackle makers to develop their Charles Clemes range of fly fishing accessories, fly reels and bamboo and graphite fly rods and this shows in the quality, craftsmanship and functionality that can be seen throughout their product range. This attention to detail is not unusual in gunsmiths, but harder to find in fly fishing tackle.

The Freshwater Series graphite fly rods and Model 278 fly reels have now been added to the Alternative Tackle Company product range and I hope to be adding more of the Charles Clemes products soon....

What Charles Clemes say:
Our rods are hand crafted in our workshops in England to the highest standards. Considerable time and experience both on and off the water have gone into the development of specific tapers for use with our latest Low Resin High Carbon technology which has culminated in our lightest and strongest blanks to date.
The freshwater range of rods are fitted with up-locking reel seats constructed of solid Nickel Silver with our distinct spacer turned from best quality 500 year old Turkish walnut. The rods feature a Half Wells grip made of the finest Flor grade cork, one or two Fuji Titanium SiC stripping guides (depending on the model) and REC Recoil snake guides. The rich olive colour of the blank is complemented with a maroon thread covered with 3 coats of epoxy varnish to give an elegant and durable finish. Each rod comes complete with an aluminium rod tube and Selvyt fabric rod and tube bags. Custom bridle leather rod tubes are available upon request and can be embossed with initials or family crest.

The 9 No.6 is an ideal tool for fishing medium to large still waters and rivers; it has also proved popular with loch style anglers. Due to the low diameter blank there is less wind resistance, allowing for long distance casts with ease even in windy conditions. It is ideal for casting large dries and weighted nymphs, with the sensitivity required for nymphing in white water or at distance.
