The Plan
The Alternative Tackle Company exists to help maintain the traditions of craftsmanship and innovation that have always been an integral part of our sport, and to support the dedicated craftsmen, innovators and designers who continue to keep these traditions alive.
Products are chosen carefully to fit in with this philosophy. Highest quality, unique, innovative, or especially desirable items of tackle are sourced from around the world.
Many, by their nature, are of little interest to more mainstream tackle shops, due to complexities of limited supply, long lead in times, smaller profit margins high shipping & import costs, etc. etc.
This makes these products hard to find, if you want to buy them, and hard to sell, if you're producing them.
As The Alternative Tackle Company does not function in the normal way, it is able bring these products to the marketplace; and so act as the link between those who seek these elusive items of tackle & those dedicated and talented individuals who produce them.
It’s a tough job, but I think its Very Important that somebody does it...
It is essential that prospective customers have full confidence in the integrity of the products and the service the company offers. To facilitate this a free trial sample product service is offered, wherever possible. Pricing & Stocking Policies...
For UK & EU customers:
Where products are imported from outside the EU, prices are calculated by adding shipping, import duties and UK VAT to the suppliers listed retail price with a slight reduction applied to the result.
This means that you pay a fair price that is less than you would pay to import the item yourself. All other prices are in line with the retail prices set by the supplier or distributor.
For customers outside the EU:
From November 2011 The Alternative Tackle Company will be UK VAT registered and will be able to offer export prices which will be 20% less than the website's list prices. The shopping cart will be set up to reflect this.
A lot of the products listed are custom made to order & therefore not normally held in stock.
With all other product ranges my intention is to hold stock of the most popular items, where practical; and to increase that level of stockholding over time and in line with demand. Individual product pages should provide information on wether an item is available from stock, or to order.
Some sample items are held, and for you to try these, please ask for details.....
