"Fly fishing's best kept secret." That's the way Green River Fly Rods have been described by one of our industry's leading journalists. But then, they're not so secret anymore and, more importantly, they've been here long before fly fishing was an "industry". At Green River they're still craftsmen and fly fishers. And though they've grown they will never become part of that industry where factories produce cookie-cutter rods on an assembly line. They remain dedicated to that same intention with which they began: A small shop committed to produce the best fly rods that hands and technology can produce. As you look through these offerings please notice that they don't change with the new year as car and dishwasher manufacturers do. No hype, no changing slogans. Ever. They do though add rods to that listing as their capacity and your requirements change and always continue to improve the existing product - so that if you've liked the rods before, you'll love the new ones.

"These rods communicate with your hand at all casting distances and sharply redraw a sometimes obscured line between casting a flyrod and waving a stick in the air".

Flyrod and Reel.

The Mettowee series has earned world-wide recognition as unique functional and elegant examples of the craft of building fine fly rods.

Unique, because the rods are impregnated with varnish and resins making them virtually unassailable to time and weather. The finish is in the rod, not on it. It will keep its glow for as long as you or your children go on fishing.

Functional and a delight to cast. Designed with a crisp "medium" action that is both accurate and forgiving with lots of power reserved for those times when the wind comes up and the fish get hard to reach.

Beautiful because Green River build them "the old way", one at a time with care and pride in craftsmanship. From book matched tips (each rod is made from the same culm of bamboo), to the swelled butt (long the signature of fine bamboo craftsmen). From the finest silk wraps to jewelry-like fittings. And, finally with the Green River guarantee to you, each rod is signed and registered. Green River guarantee covers workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner [proof of purchase required].

The stream that this series is named after is a classically beautiful and still relatively unspoiled trout stream just a short drive from the Green River shop in Vermont. To us it represents the essence of fly fishing and recalls the "golden age" of rod making. To offer its name to this series is not so much a homage or a dedication but more a recognition that just as the natural world calls to what is best in us, so Green River are obligated to bring their best to it.

"The rod has a lovely dry fly action which stays up toward the tip even on longer casts. It's no easy feat to build that kind of response into a six foot rod for a four weight line."

Ed Engle in the Angler's Journal

Each rod is finished with many coats of hand-rubbed, hand formulated varnish. This time consuming process offers a no-glare, extraordinarily protective, durable and easily maintained finish.

With their swelled butt, book matched tips, fine tipping - all the traditional signature of only the finest handcrafted fly rods. Green River guarantee covers workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner [proof of purchase required].

These rods will be the centrepiece of any collection or the first rod you reach for on your way to the stream.
