Fly fishing that is what it's all about. Trying to find a balance between design and practical use. Something which is not always easy. With every reel a concession is made in principle. Palming the reel has it's advantages, until the reel drops on a hard surface and the spool does get stuck inside the frame. We all want a perfect dragsystem, but this will add to the weight of the reel. Next to that we also want a reel with a lifetime guarantee, which means that the reel will have to last at least a lifetime of fishing too. A guarantee on mistakes in materials used and the construction of a reel is useless when a reel has not been designed for it to be used for a great number of years. A lightweight reel is what people ask for in the present time. But, will the reel survive the guarantee? Next to that a reel that is low in weight is often a bad thing for the balance of the complete outfit. You, as a fly fisher, will have to make the final choice. The Dutch Reels design, the dragsystem and the durability of these reels are unique : Peter Elberse, Dutch Reels. 1995 was the year that "THE ORIGINAL" came on the market for the first time. Since the year 2000 we produce reels under the Dutch Reels name. For ten years now we produce beautiful, but also high quality fly-reels. The reels are made in a factory in Mijdrecht, close to Amsterdam. In the factory of Enev BV the different parts are machined and milled on hypermodern machines.
Dutch Reels
Dutch Reels has introduced a new series of fly reels in the last months of 2006, with more holes than the existing models to reduce the weight of these reels. The Spring Creek, Wilderness River and Rio Grande fly reels are - in a limited edition of only 75 pieces per model - produced in a superb, exclusive champagne colour. (These reels will become available in other, regular colours during the year 2007).

The new fly reels are of course equipped with the same reliable drag system that is used in the other Dutch Reels fly reels. The run of a hooked fish can be controlled in the palm of your hand as well, though.

The model Spring Creek is designed for fly lines in the line classes #3, 4 and 5 and is therefore ideally suited to flyfish for trout and grayling on rivers and creeks. Should you hook a very big trout on the small nymph that you are using, than you will learn to appreciate the fantastic drag system.

The model Wilderness River is meant to be used in combination with fly lines in line weights #5, 6 and 7. It is the standard fly reel for use on trout reservoirs, the large lakes of Ireland and the UK, for sea running brown trout and carp.

The Rio Grande has ample room for fly lines in the line classes #7, 8 and 9 and with this reel you can throw yourself in combat confidently with big pike, sea trout, salmon, sea bass, pollack, bonefish, snook, small tarpon, etc. Available in the following colours: silver and champagne.
